The Sub-Committee on HIV/AIDS of the Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 3:35 o'clock p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bernard Patry, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Harold Culbert, Hedy Fry, Sharon Hayes, Ovid L. Jackson, Réal Ménard, Bernard Patry and Rose-Marie Ur.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore and Bill Murray, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on the status of HIV/AIDS (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Wednesday, December 7, 1994, Issue No. 1).
It was agreed,--That Members submit proposed changes to the Draft Report on the study of the National Aids Strategy to the Clerk by Wednesday, November 15, in preparation for the next meeting of the Sub-Committee.
It was agreed,--That the Committee adopt the workplan on proposed participants and schedule for a National Roundtable on Compassionate Access to Experimental Drugs and, that the Roundtable be held, preferably, in early December.
It was agreed,--That the proposed budget for the National Roundtable on Compassionate Access to Experimental Drugs in the amount of $38,260.00, be adopted and submitted as soon as possible to the Standing Committee on Health and the Budget Sub-Committee of the Liaison Committee for approval.
It was agreed,--That the request of the Prisoners' Rights Committee for an appearance before the Sub-Committee and Mr. Ménard's suggestion for a briefing session on Vaccines for AIDS patients be received for future consideration of the Sub-Committee.
It was agreed,--That the Chair write to the Honourable Diane Marleau, Minister of Health, requesting a formal response to the request of the Sub-Committee, dated April 11, 1995, that Members of the National Advisory Committee on AIDS appear before the Sub-Committee and further requesting copies of all reports produced by NAC-AIDS.
At 5:05 o'clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

It was agreed,--That the Sub-Committee would continue consideration of its Draft Report at its next meeting.
It was agreed,--That the National Roundtable on Compassionate Access to Experimental Drugs be televised and that the Clerk be directed to reserve Room 253-D for the duration of the Roundtable.
It was agreed,--That the Prisoners' Rights Committee, together with representatives of Correctional Services Canada and the National Parole Board be asked to appear before the Sub-Committee at the earliest possible opportunity.
At 5:10 o'clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

The Sub-Committee on HIV/AIDS of the Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 4:50 o'clock p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Bldg., the Chairman, Dr. Bernard Patry, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Hedy Fry, Ovid L. Jackson, Réal Ménard, Bernard Patry and Rose-Marie Ur.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore and Bill Murray, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its draft report relating to the National Aids Strategy.
It was agreed,--That the draft report (as amended) be adopted as the First Report of the Sub-Committee on HIV/AIDS, and that the Chair be authorized to present the report to the Standing Committee on Health at its next meeting.
It was agreed,--That the Sub-Committee authorize the printing of a brief dissenting opinion from the Reform Party of Canada, providing that same shall be presented to the Clerk's office, in English, by no later than Friday noon, December 1, 1995.
It was agreed,--That the Chair of the Committee ask, in accordance with Standing Order 119.1(1), the permission of the House to televise the meetings of Wednesday, December 13, 1995 and Thursday, December 14, 1995 in Committee Rooms other than Room 253-D.
It was agreed,--That the Committee reimburse two of the witnesses for the salary, living and travelling expenses for their attendants to assist them to participate in the Opening Session of the Roundtable on Compassionate Access to Experimental Drugs.
It was agreed,--That the Clerk be authorized to arrange for working lunches during the National Roundtable on Compassionate Access to Experimental Drugs.
