Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, November 2, 2023, the committee commenced its study of issues relating to the horticultural sector.

Ron Lemaire, Stefan Larrass and William Spurr made statements and answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That a news release be issued and published on the committee’s website regarding the letter written by the committee to encourage the five major grocery chains to adopt the Grocery Code of Conduct.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, November 2, 2023, the committee resumed its study of issues relating to the horticultural sector.

Catherine Lefebvre, Patrice Léger Bourgoin, Jennifer Pfenning and Jeffrey Walsh made statements and, with Emily Lutz, answered questions.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Lianne Rood gave notice of the following motion:

That the committee invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food to appear for no fewer than two hours regarding the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2023-24 and that this meeting take place as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, March 1, 2024.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Thursday, November 2, 2023, the resumed its study of issues relating to the horticultural sector.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 1:11 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
