Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, the committee resumed its study of postal service in Canada’s rural and remote communities.

It was agreed, — That the committee invite the Procurement Ombudsman to appear for his report on procurement practices relating to contracts awarded to McKinsey & Company, and Public Services and Procurement Canada.

Jan Simpson and Dwayne Jones made statements and, with Emilie Tobin, answered questions.

On motion of Taylor Bachrach, it was agreed, — That the committee order Canada Post or Public Services and Procurement Canada to produce a complete list of the 600 rural post offices that have been closed since the 1994 moratorium, with the location, dates of closure, stated reason for closure, and that, no later than Friday, April 26, 2024.

At 12:16 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:21 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

At 12:31 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
