M-459 Canadian Coast Guard Kitsilano Search and Rescue base

That, in the opinion of the House, the government should recognize that the Canadian Coast Guard Kitsilano Search and Rescue base in Vancouver, British Columbia: (a) is one of the busiest in Canada and oversees a marine area considered the most congested in the country; (b) is an essential component of the area’s emergency marine response; (c) is strongly supported by local stakeholders and search-and-rescue experts who believe that the closure of the base will significantly increase emergency response times to marine incidents and place lives at risk; and, therefore, should be reopened and returned to its former operational capacity.
