The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 5:17 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Massimo Pacetti, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Charles Hubbard, Hon. John McKay, Hon. Maria Minna, Massimo Pacetti and Monte Solberg.

Acting Members present: Hon. Peter Adams for Don H. Bell, Hon. Eleni Bakopanos for Hon. John McKay, Hon. Marlene Jennings for Hon. Maria Minna, Alexa McDonough for Judy Wasylycia-Leis and Peter Van Loan for Charlie Penson.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal ; Sheena Starky, Analyst . Standing Committee on Finance: Richard Dupuis, Clerk of the Committee.

Witnesses: Canadian Federation of Students: Michael Conlon, Director of Research. Quebec Federation of University Students: Guillaume Lavoie, Vice-President, International and Federal Affairs. Canadian Alliance of Student Associations: Toby White, Government Relations Officer. MDA Space Missions Group: Magued Iskander, Executive Vice-President and General Manager. Canadian Alliance of Student Associations: Phillippe Ouellette, National Director. Canadian Association of University Teachers: David Robinson, Associate Executive Director.

Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2005.

Michael Colon, Guillaume Lavoie, Magued Iskander, Philippe Ouellette and David Robinson made statements and, with Toby White, answered questions.

At 6:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
