| May 8, 2007 — Mr. Dion (Saint-Laurent—Cartierville) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government's mistaken policies with respect to interest non-deductibility and income trusts are making it increasingly difficult for Canadian businesses to succeed internationally, while making Canadian businesses increasingly vulnerable to foreign takeovers, thus putting Canadian jobs, head offices and investment at risk and contributing to a hollowing out of Canadian enterprise; |
| and this House calls upon the Prime Minister to instruct his Minister of Finance to resolve these dangers by withdrawing his interest non-deductibility proposal and entering into meaningful public consultations on appropriate measures to combat tax abuses, and by withdrawing his proposal to tax income trusts and replacing it with the Liberal alternative as summarized in the 14th Report of the Standing Committee on Finance, presented February 28, 2007. |

| May 8, 2007 — Mr. McGuinty (Ottawa South) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should call Bill C-30, Canada's Clean Air Act and Climate Change Act , for debate in the House of Commons since it seeks to implement Canada's National Carbon Budget, a Kyoto-compliant trading system for greenhouse gas emission permits, tough new regional air quality standards, energy efficiency standards for all products whose use significantly impacts energy consumption in Canada, and a fuel consumption standard that meets or exceeds international best practices. |

| May 8, 2007 — Mr. Savage (Dartmouth—Cole Harbour) — That this House recognize that the Summer Career Placement Program established in 1994 has provided hundreds of thousands of much needed jobs for Canadian university and colleges students; recognize that the Summer Career Placement program provided valuable support for organizations and community groups, most of whom are non-profit; recognize that the Summer Career Placement program has been replaced with a much smaller and inadequate program, resulting in the loss of thousands of summer jobs for students; and, therefore, this House calls on the government to restore all the funding that was cut from the Summer Career Placement Program. |

| May 8, 2007 — Mr. Russell (Labrador) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government has failed to live up to verbal and written commitments made to Premiers by the Prime Minister during the last election campaign with respect to the Equalization Program and the Atlantic Accords. |

| May 8, 2007 — Mrs. Barnes (London West) — That, in the opinion of this House, the safety and security of our communities depends upon the courageous men and women who serve as front-line police officers; and the federal government must work collaboratively with the provincial and territorial governments to ensure long-term and stable funding for additional front-line police officers to serve our communities; and the Canadian Association of Police Boards (CAPB), the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) and the Canadian Police Association (CPA) have all called upon the government to address the need for a new mechanism to fund additional police officers; and, therefore, this House call upon the government to immediately convene a roundtable meeting of the Federal, Provincial and Territorial Ministers, along with representatives from the CAPB, the CACP and the CPA, to commence discussions on developing a long-term and sustainable cost-sharing arrangement for additional police officers in our communities. |
