An Act respecting international bridges and tunnels and making a consequential amendment to another Act

Notices of Motions

Motion No. 1 — June 13, 2006 — Mr. Martin (Sault Ste. Marie) — That Bill C-3, in Clause 7, be amended by adding after line 5 on page 3 the following:
“(1.1) Before accepting an application for approval of the construction or alteration of an international bridge or tunnel under subsection (1), the Minister shall consult with the other levels of government that have authority in the place where the international bridge or tunnel is, or is to be, situated and with any person who, in the opinion of the Minister, has a direct interest in the matter.”
Pursuant to Standing Order 76(2), notice also received from:

Motion No. 2 — June 13, 2006 — Mr. Martin (Sault Ste. Marie) — That Bill C-3, in Clause 8, be amended by adding after line 20 on page 3 the following:
“(1.1) Before approving an application for the construction or alteration of an international bridge or tunnel under subsection (1), the Governor in Council shall consult with the other levels of government that have authority in the place where the international bridge or tunnel is, or is to be, situated and with any person who, in the opinion of the Governor in Council, has a direct interest in the matter.”

Motion No. 3 — June 13, 2006 — The Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities — That Bill C-3, in Clause 15, be amended by replacing subsection (2) with the following:
“(2) Before recommending that a regulation be made under subsection (1), the Minister shall, if in the opinion of the Minister it is necessary having regard to all the circumstances, consult with the other levels of government that have jurisdiction over any place where an international bridge or tunnel is situated and with any person who, in the opinion of the Minister, has a direct interest in the matter.”
Motion No. 4 — June 13, 2006 — Mr. Martin (Sault Ste. Marie) — That Bill C-3, in Clause 24, be amended by adding after line 31 on page 10 the following:
“(1.1) Before accepting an application for approval for anything referred to in paragraphs 23(1)(a) to (c), the Minister shall consult with the other levels of government that have authority in the place where the international bridge or tunnel that is the subject of the application is situated and with any person who, in the opinion of the Minister, has a direct interest in the matter.”

Motion No. 5 — June 13, 2006 — Mr. Martin (Sault Ste. Marie) — That Bill C-3, in Clause 25, be amended by adding after line 45 on page 10 the following:
“(1.1) Before approving an application referred to in section 24, the Governor in Council shall consult with the other levels of government that have authority in the place where the international bridge or tunnel that is the subject of the application is situated and with any person who, in the opinion of the Governor in Council, has a direct interest in the matter.”
