M-248 — November 9, 2006 — Mr. Paquette (Joliette) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should as quickly as possible conclude a constitutionally protected treaty between the Government of Canada, the Government of Quebec and the Atikamekw First Nations of Manawan, Wemotaci and Opitciwan that is based on recognition of aboriginal rights, including aboriginal title, over the entire traditional territory and on recognition of their right to self-government, all subject to the effects and procedures set out in the future treaty. |
