M-252 — November 28, 2006 — Ms. Nash (Parkdale—High Park) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) announce increased funding for the global fight against HIV/AIDS; (b) invest at least $50 million in additional annual spending to the Global Fund to fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, beginning in 2007; (c) allow cheaper, generic drugs to be produced in Canada for use here and abroad; and (d) recognize the role gender that empowerment plays in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and direct the Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) to vote in favour of creating an international women’s agency within the UN to advocate for women. |
M-253 — November 28, 2006 — Mr. Turner (Halton) — That, in the opinion of the House, a special committee of the House should be appointed to review and make recommendations on all federal legislation and on all procedures and practices of the House related to rights and privileges of independent Members versus rights and privileges of Members belonging to a party caucus and on responsible and equitable representation of Canadians, and that within six months of its appointment the special committee shall report to the House its finding and recommendations. |
M-254 — November 28, 2006 — Mr. Malhi (Bramalea—Gore—Malton) — That, in the opinion of the House, the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration should amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the Regulations made under that Act: (a) to provide for visa bonds of foreign nationals who apply for temporary resident visas as members of the visitor class; (b) to establish minimum and maximum visa bond amounts as guidelines for immigration officials; and (c) to allow the visa bond to apply to either the sponsor or to the foreign national. |
M-255 — November 28, 2006 — Mr. Malhi (Bramalea—Gore—Malton) — That, in the opinion of the House, in relation to sponsorship, the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration should: (a) strengthen the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act to protect Canadians from the misuse by foreign nationals; (b) extend the sponsorship from three years to five years; and (c) make it applicable to both the sponsor and the sponsored in the category of relationships. |
M-256 — November 28, 2006 — Mr. Bezan (Selkirk—Interlake) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should consider investing in a comprehensive research program in the area of caregiving, including the needs of terminally and critically ill dependent children, and present with recommendations for addressing identified shortfalls in the support programs provided to caregivers. |
