| M-507 — June 9, 2008 — Ms. Nash (Parkdale—High Park) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) implement measures to slow the loss of manufacturing and forestry jobs in Canada, which would include a green auto plan, a secure and sustainable energy strategy, and a plan to ensure greater transformation of raw materials into value-added products in Canada; (b) insist that multinational auto manufacturers respect the principle of the auto pact, requiring one vehicle to be manufactured in Canada for each vehicle they sell in Canada; (c) refrain from signing trade deals with countries that import canadian raw materials and that place foreign market restrictions on canadian vehicles and manufactured goods while permitting the import of their vehicles into Canada without restrictions; (d) ensure that multinational corporations be required to maintain a minimum level of Canadian content in order to receive public funds; and (e) regard the closing of the Oshawa truck plant as an urgent crisis, immediately undertake work with the concerned unions and company to put a strategy in place and reopen the production facility. | M-507 — 9 juin 2008 — Mme Nash (Parkdale—High Park) — Que, de l’avis de la Chambre, le gouvernement devrait : a) adopter des mesures afin de ralentir la perte d’emplois dans les secteurs manufacturier et forestier au Canada, notamment un plan de production d’automobiles écologiques, une stratégie d’approvisionnement énergétique sûre et durable ainsi qu’un plan élargi de transformation des matières premières en produits à valeur ajoutée au Canada; b) insister pour que les multinationales de l’automobile respectent le principe du Pacte de l’automobile en exigeant la construction au Canada d’un véhicule pour chaque véhicule que ces multinationales vendent au Canada; c) s’abstenir de signer des accords commerciaux avec des pays importateurs de matières premières canadiennes qui imposent des restrictions sur les véhicules et les biens fabriqués au Canada, mais qui autorisent l’importation sans restrictions au Canada de véhicules fabriqués dans ces pays; d) obliger les multinationales à maintenir un minimum de contenu canadien pour avoir droit à des subventions; e) traiter la fermeture de l’usine de fabrication de camions à Oshawa comme une situation de crise et entreprendre immédiatement de consulter les syndicats et l'entreprise en cause en vue d’adopter une stratégie et de rouvrir l’usine. |
