November 8, 2007 — The Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister for Democratic Reform — Bill entitled “An Act to amend the Constitution Act, 1867 (Democratic representation)”.
Recommendation
(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))
Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to amend the Constitution Act, 1867 (Democratic representation)”.

M-394 — November 8, 2007 — Mr. Dewar (Ottawa Centre) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should show its solidarity with the Burmese democratic movement by: (a) invoking the Special Economic Measures Act to prohibit persons and corporations in Canada or Canadians outside Canada (i) from dealing in property of Myanmar, (ii) from exporting, selling or shipping goods to Myanmar, (iii) from transferring technical data to Myanmar, (iv) from importing or acquiring goods from Myanmar, (v) from providing or acquiring any financial or other services to or from Myanmar; and (b) prohibiting vessels flying the Myanmar flag from coming to Canada unless in case of emergency.
