| M-416 — November 27, 2007 — Mr. Scarpaleggia (Lac-Saint-Louis) — That the House call on the government to convene a task force comprised of representatives of the federal government, the provinces and territories, scientists, legal experts and representatives of citizen watershed management groups, to examine gaps in current provincial and federal legislation and regulations aimed at prohibiting bulk exports of water; and that should this task force not reach consensus in 18 months on additional measures needed to close gaps in the present legal and regulatory regime in Canada aimed at protecting freshwater from bulk export, the government introduce legislation to prohibit major inter-basin transfers of water in Canada. |
