M-456 — February 14, 2008 — Ms. Charlton (Hamilton Mountain) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should establish a policy with respect to military memorials that: (a) establishes criteria for determining whether a memorial is in the national interest; and (b) in cases where memorials are determined to be in the national interest, endeavours to protect and preserve such memorials and works with provincial and territorial governments to establish rules for prohibiting the sale and relocation of such memorials until a determination has been made that such a sale or relocation would be in the national interest.
