Opposition Motions
May 6, 2008 — Mr. Layton (Toronto—Danforth) — That, in the opinion of the House, this government has failed to keep its promise to reduce wait times for treatment or diagnostic care through working with the provinces and territories to invest in training more nurses and doctors; or to reduce wait times for ordinary Canadians through consultations with provinces and territories, patients, and stakeholders on innovation, reform and sharing best practices; and that for these and other reasons, the House has lost confidence in the government.

May 6, 2008 — Mr. Layton (Toronto—Danforth) — That the House note this government's failure to enhance democracy in any meaningful way; to live up to its promises to create more open government through substantial and meaningful reform of access to information; to engage Canadians in meaningful consultations toward real electoral reform; and therefore for these and other reasons the House has lost confidence in the government.

May 6, 2008 — Ms. Priddy (Surrey North) — That this House call on the government to create and fund the position of a National Fire Advisor to work with appropriate Provincial and Territorial officials to help facilitate fire safety and response, particularly with respect to developing new research initiatives, tracking national trends and responding to extreme emergencies.

May 6, 2008 — Mr. Martin (Sault Ste. Marie) — That the House recognize the harmful effects on working and middle-income Canadians of the growing income gap fostered by this government's unbalanced economic agenda, including it's failure to reform employment insurance to ensure that people who lose their jobs during economic downturns are protected and trained, and therefore the House has lost confidence in this government.
