Q-10712 — March 21, 2011 — Mrs. Lavallée (Saint-Bruno—Saint-Hubert) — With regard to the report titled “Noise From Civilian Aircraft in the Vicinity of Airports”, produced in 2001 by Health Canada’s Consumer and Clinical Protection Bureau: (a) can the government confirm whether the recommendation which states, “The available research does not support the contention that there is a significant risk of chronic stress and/or cardiovascular disease arising from long term exposure to outdoor daily aircraft noise levels above 65 dBA,” is still valid; (b) has there been continuous assessment of research findings on the potential for chronic stress and cardiovascular risks from aircraft noise, as recommended; and (c) has the report been updated or is it in the process of being updated?
