| M-422 — January 30, 2013 — Ms. Foote (Random—Burin—St. George's) — That, in the opinion of the House, the Last Post Fund is currently underfunded and excludes deserving veterans causing unnecessary stress and hardship to families of veterans, and that the House call on the government to do the following: (a) accept the recommendations of successive Veteran Ombudsmens’ calling for expanded and enhanced financial access to the Last Post Fund; (b) accept the advice from the Royal Canadian Legion made in the years 2008, again in 2010, and finally 2012 calling for expanded access and financial support for the Last Post Fund; (c) accept three year old advice from departmental officials to expand and enhance financial access to the Last Post Fund; (d) review the Last Post Fund’s current burial assistance cap of $3,600 with the goal to establish a standard consistent with burial assistance provided to current members of the Canadian Forces; (e) review the “means tested” standard applied to the Last Post Fund that currently excludes many veterans with the goal to improve and lower the qualification standard to access the Fund; and (f) provide stable long term funding to the Last Post Fund with consideration given to establish a financial escalator tied to the Consumer Price Index. | M-422 — 30 janvier 2013 — Mme Foote (Random—Burin—St. George's) — Que, de l’avis de la Chambre, le Fonds du Souvenir est actuellement sous-financé et exclut des anciens combattants méritants, ce qui cause un stress inutile et des difficultés à leurs familles; et que la Chambre demande au gouvernement : a) d’accepter les recommandations des ombudsmans des anciens combattants successifs, qui ont demandé que l’accès au Fonds du Souvenir soit élargi et amélioré; b) d’accepter les conseils de la Légion royale canadienne faits en 2008, 2010 et 2012 afin d’élargir l’accès et l’aide financière concernant le Fonds du Souvenir; c) d’accepter le conseil fait il y a trois ans par des fonctionnaires afin d’élargir et d’améliorer l’accès au Fonds du Souvenir; d) de revoir le plafond de l’aide pour les funérailles du Fonds du Souvenir, actuellement établi à 3 600 $, dans le but de le rendre conforme à l’aide accordée en pareilles circonstances aux membres actuels des Forces canadiennes; e) de revoir la norme reposant sur « l’examen des ressources » qui s’applique au Fonds du Souvenir et qui exclut actuellement de nombreux anciens combattants, dans le but d’améliorer et d’assouplir les critères d’admissibilité au Fonds; f) d’assurer un financement stable à long terme du Fonds du Souvenir en envisageant de lier son augmentation à celle de l’indice des prix à la consommation. |

| M-412 — October 19, 2012 — Mr. Aspin (Nipissing—Timiskaming) — That, in the opinion of the House, a government loan guarantee to the Lower Churchill hydroelectric project is: (a) an important part of a clean energy agenda; (b) an economically viable project that will create thousands of jobs and billions in economic growth; (c) regionally significant for the Atlantic region, which will benefit from a stable and sustainable electricity source for decades to come; and (d) environmentally-friendly, with substantial greenhouse gas emission reductions through the displacement of power from coal-fired and oil electricity sources. | M-412 — 19 octobre 2012 — M. Aspin (Nipissing—Timiskaming) — Que, de l’avis de la Chambre, une garantie d’emprunt consentie par le gouvernement dans le cadre du projet d’aménagement hydroélectrique du cours inférieur du fleuve Churchill est : a) un élément important d’un programme d’énergie propre; b) un projet économiquement viable qui créera des milliers d’emplois et qui représentera une croissance économique de plusieurs milliards de dollars; c) importante sur le plan régional pour la région de l’Atlantique, qui jouira d’une source d’électricité stable et durable pendant les décennies à venir; d) écologique, en permettant de réduire substantiellement les émissions de gaz à effet de serre grâce au déclassement de la production d’électricité au charbon et à l’huile. |
