| M-572 — March 9, 2015 — Mr. Sullivan (York South—Weston) — That a special committee of the House be appointed to address the fact that persons living with a disability are twice as likely to experience low income than other Canadians, by: (a) reviewing income security for persons living with disabilities; and (b) consulting broadly with persons living with disabilities and disability organizations and other relevant stakeholders; and that the committee report back to the House no later than six months following the adoption of this motion, with concrete recommendations to improve income security for persons living with disabilities. |
| M-573 — March 9, 2015 — Mr. Sullivan (York South—Weston) — That, in the opinion of the House, the government should convene a meeting with provincial and territorial ministers to negotiate an agreement on changes to the Canada Pension Plan Act so as to: (a) make it illegal to offset the Disabled Contributor’s Child Benefit from Long-Term Disability insurance payments; and (b) ensure that the benefit is applied, as intended, to provide support for families of persons with disabilities in view of the extra costs associated with raising a child, and not be considered as part of the parent’s income for the purpose of calculating Long-Term Disability insurance payments received from the public or private sector. |
