Canadian Council of Public Accounts Committees (CCPAC) and Canadian Council of Legislative Auditors (CCOLA) Annual Conference

Summary

On Thursday, November 5, 2020, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PACP) agreed to a motion to host the annual meeting of the Canadian Council of Public Accounts Committees (CCPAC) in the summer of 2022. On Tuesday, March 9, 2021, PACP adopted a budget for the 2022 conference of the Canadian Council of Public Accounts Committees (CCPAC) and the Canadian Council of Legislative Auditors (CCOLA), and the Chair presented this budget to the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee (SBLI) on March 12, 2021. On March 25, 2021, the Board of Internal Economy (BOIE) considered and approved the proposal, with funding for the conference to be provided through temporary funding from the Committees global envelope, as well as conference registration fees and a contribution from CCOLA. The conference took place in Ottawa from August 28-30, 2022, and brought together Members of Public Accounts Committees and Auditor Generals from across Canada to discuss emerging issues and good practices in public administration. It included jurisdictional updates from participants, annual general meetings for CCPAC and CCOLA, and business sessions on a range of topics including scrutinizing recurring issues, accountability and political change, maintaining the relevance of legislative audit offices, and studying the public accounts.
