(iii) avant le budget de 2023, la ministre des Finances avait déclaré « Ce que les Canadiens veulent, c’est que l’inflation diminue et que les taux d’intérêt baissent […] Et c’est l’un des principaux objectifs du budget de cette année : ne pas jeter de l’huile sur le feu de l’inflation », puis elle a ajouté 60 milliards de dollars de nouvelles dépenses,

(iv) pour combattre l’inflation, la Banque du Canada a été forcée de relever le taux directeur 10 fois en à peine 19 mois,

(v) les hausses des taux d’intérêt ont fait augmenter les versements hypothécaires et, depuis que ce premier ministre est au pouvoir, les remboursements hypothécaires mensuels ont augmenté de 150 % et coûtent maintenant 3 500 $ pour une maison familiale moyenne,

(vi) le gouvernement libéral-néo-démocrate doit faire preuve de discipline budgétaire, mettre fin à ses déficits qui alimentent l’inflation, pour que les taux d’intérêt puissent être abaissés,

in order to avoid a mortgage default crisis, as warned by the International Monetary Fund, and to ensure Canadians do not lose their homes, the House call on the government to introduce a fiscal plan that includes a pathway back to balanced budgets, in order to decrease inflation and interest rates, and to introduce this in the House of Commons prior to the Bank of Canada’s next policy interest rate decision on October 25, 2023.
