| In accordance with its Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 8, 2006, your Committee has considered Bill C-253, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (deductibility of RESP contributions), and agreed on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, to report it with the following amendments: | Conformément à son Ordre de renvoi du mercredi 8 novembre 2006, votre Comité a étudié le projet de loi C-253, Loi modifiant la Loi de l'impôt sur le revenu (déductibilité des cotisations à un REEE), et a convenu le jeudi 20 mars 2007, d’en faire rapport avec les amendements suivants : |

| That Bill C-253, in Clause 2, be amended (a) by replacing lines 10 to 28 on page 1 and lines 1 to 30 on page 2 with the following: | Que le projet de loi C-253, à l'article 2, soit modifié : a) par substitution, aux lignes 10 à 29, page 1, et aux lignes 1 à 35, page 2, de ce qui suit : |
“2. (1) The definition “RESP annual limit” in subsection 146.1(1) of the Act is amended by striking out the word “and” at the end of paragraph (b) and by replacing paragraph (c) with the following: (c) for 1997 to 2005, $4,000, (d) for 2006, $5,000, and (e) for 2007 and subsequent years, the total of the RESP annual limit for the preceding taxation year and the product obtained when the RESP annual limit is multiplied by the average percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for the year in question, published by Statistics Canada under the authority of the Statistics Act;” | « 2.
