FAAE Rapport du Comité

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), your Committee has considered the growing humanitarian crisis in Syria and has agreed to report the following:

The Committee notes and welcomes the substantial efforts taken to date by the Government of Canada to respond to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria and in the broader region; the Committee expresses its support for the efforts of UN Arab League Special Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi and all reasonable efforts to achieve a negotiated end to the crisis; encourages the Government to continue to consider providing additional financial contributions that would provide tangible results by assisting those most in need; and supports the Government’s efforts to expedite family reunification for Syrians who are sponsored by Syrian-Canadians and who face individualized personal risk.

Conformément à l'article 108(2) du Règlement, le Comité a examiné la crise humanitaire croissante en Syrie et a convenu de faire rapport de ce qui suit :

Le Comité note et salue les efforts substantiels du gouvernement fédéral face à la crise humanitaire en Syrie et dans la région; le Comité exprime son appui aux efforts du représentant spécial des Nations Unies et de la Ligue des États arabes, Lakhdar Brahimi, et à tous les efforts raisonnables visant à trouver une solution négociée; il encourage le gouvernement à continuer d’envisager de faire d'autres contributions financières qui permettraient d'apporter une aide concrète aux plus démunis; et il appuie les efforts du gouvernement pour accélérer la réunification familiale de Syriens parrainés par des Canadiens d’origine syrienne et personnellement menacés dans leur pays.
