The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:05 o'clock a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Bldg., the Chairman, Roger Simmons, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sharon Hayes, Bernard Patry, Andy Scott, Roger Simmons.

Acting Members present: Ron Fewchuk for Paul Szabo; Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral for Pauline Picard.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Claude Blanchette and Nancy Miller-Chénier, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Public Health Association: Marianne Stewart, Chair, Child Health Program; Kathryn Tregunna, Senior Program Officer. From the Canadian Paediatric Society: Dr. Frank Friesen, President; Dr. Pierre Beaudry, President-elect; Dr. Victor Marchessault, Executive Vice-President; Dr. John Holland, Member. From Campaign 2000: Rosemarie Popham, Chair.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on Preventative Strategies for Health Children. (See Minutes of Proceedings, dated Thursday, November 2, 1995, Issue No. 33).

Marianne Stewart made an opening statement and together with Kathryn Tregunna answered questions.

Dr. Frank Friesen, Dr. Pierre Beaudry and Dr. John Holland each made opening statements and together with Dr. Victor Marchessault answered questions.

Rosemarie Popham made an opening statement.

At 10:20 o'clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
