Pursuant to the order of reference of Monday, March 27, 2023, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-26, An Act respecting cyber security, amending the Telecommunications Act and making consequential amendments to other Acts.

The ministers made a statement and, with Patrick Boucher and Mark Schaan, answered questions.

At 9:49 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:55 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Chris Bittle moved, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $14,500, for the study of Bill C-26, An Act respecting cyber security, amending the Telecommunications Act and making consequential amendments to other Acts, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of growing problem of car thefts in Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $8,199.20, for the committee’s travel to Montreal, Quebec, in the Spring and Summer of 2024, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of growing problem of car thefts in Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $9,399.20, for the committee’s travel to Montreal, Quebec, in the Spring and Summer of 2024, be adopted.

At 10:28 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
