Motions

By unanimous consent, Mr. Eggleton (President of the Treasury Board), seconded by Mr. Godin (Châteauguay), Mr. Hart (Okanagan -- Similkameen -- Merritt), Ms. McLaughlin (Yukon) and Mrs. Wayne (Saint John), moved, -- That this House solemnly commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps, remembers the lives of the millions of men, women and children who perished at the hands of tyranny, and honours the many Canadians who fought for freedom and justice at a time of darkness.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Mr. Manning (Calgary Southwest), seconded by Miss Grey (Beaver River), moved, -- That this House recognize that since the inception of our national health care system the federal share of funding for health care in Canada has fallen from 50 percent to 23 percent and therefore the House urges the government to consult with the provinces and other stakeholders to determine core services to be completely funded by the federal and provincial governments and non-core services where private insurance and the benefactors of the services might play a supplementary role.
