RECALL OF THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
The Speaker informed the House that, pursuant to Standing Order 28(4), he has recalled the House today for the sole purpose of granting Royal Assent to certain Bills.
ROYAL ASSENT
The Speaker informed the House that the Honourable the Deputy Governor General will proceed to the Senate today at 12:00 noon for the purpose of giving the Royal Assent to certain Bills.
MESSAGES FROM THE SENATE
Messages were received from the Senate as follows:
-- ORDERED: That a Message be sent to the House of Commons to acquaint that House that the Senate has passed Bill C-99, An Act to amend the Small Business Loans Act, without amendment.
ROYAL ASSENT
A Message was received from the Honourable John Charles Major, Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Canada, in his capacity as Deputy Governor General, desiring the immediate attendance of the House in the Senate.
Accordingly, the Speaker, with the House, proceeded to the Senate.
The Commons returned to the Chamber.
Whereupon, the Speaker reported that, when the Commons had been in the Senate, the Honourable the Deputy Governor General was pleased to give, in Her Majesty's name, the Royal Assent to the following Bills:

Bill C-45, An Act to amend the Corrections and Conditional Release
Act, the Criminal Code, the Criminal Records Act, the Prisons and
Reformatories Act and the Transfer of Offenders Act-Chapter No. 42;
-
Bill C-83, An Act to amend the Auditor General Act -Chapter No. 43;
-
Bill C-64, An Act respecting employment equity-Chapter No. 44;
-
Bill C-107, An Act respecting the establishment of the British
Columbia Treaty Commission-Chapter No. 45;
-
Bill C-103, An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act and the Income Tax
Act-Chapter No. 46;
-
Bill C-108, An Act to amend the National Housing Act -Chapter No. 47;
-
Bill C-99, An Act to amend the Small Business Loans Act -Chapter No.
48; and
-
Bill S-12, An Act to amalgamate the Alberta corporation known as the
Missionary Church with the Canada corporation known as the Evangelical
Missionary Church, Canada West District.
The Speaker also reported that he had addressed the Honourable the Deputy Governor General as follows:

``May it please Your Honour:

The Commons of Canada have voted Supplies required to enable the
Government to defray certain expenses of the public service.

In the name of the Commons I present to Your Honour the following
Bill:

An Act for granting to Her Majesty certain sums of money for the
Government of Canada for the financial year ending the 31st March
1996.
-
To which Bill I humbly request Your Honour's Assent.''
Whereupon, the Clerk of the Senate, by Command of the Deputy the Governor General, did say:

``In Her Majesty's name, the Honourable the Deputy to His Excellency
the Governor General thanks Her Loyal Subjects, accepts their
benevolence, and assents to this Bill.''
