The Deputy Speaker: Order, I have the honour to inform the House that a communication has been received as follows:

Mr. Speaker,
I have the honour to inform you that the Right Honourable Antonio Lamer, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, in his capacity as Deputy Governor General, will proceed to the Senate Chamber today, the 18th day of December, 1996, at 6.30 p.m., for the purpose of giving royal assent to certain bills.

MESSAGE FROM THE SENATE

The Deputy Speaker: I have the honour to inform the House that a message has been received from the Senate informing the House that the Senate has passed the following bills: Bill C-45, an act to amend the Criminal Code (judicial review of parole ineligibility) and another act; Bill C-63, an act to amend the Canada Elections Act, the Parliament of Canada Act and the Referendum Act; Bill C-26, an act respecting the Oceans of Canada; Bill C-35, an act to amend the Canada Labour Code (minimum wage); Bill C-61, an act to implement the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement; Bill C-347, an act to change the names of certain electoral districts.

A message was delivered by the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod as follows:

Mr. Speaker, the Honourable Deputy to the Governor General desires the immediate attendance of this honourable House in the chamber of the honourable the Senate.
Accordingly, the Speaker with the House went up to the Senate chamber.

And being returned:

The Deputy Speaker: I have the honour to inform the House that when the House went up to the Senate chamber the Deputy Governor General was pleased to give, in Her Majesty's name, the royal assent to the following bills:

Bill C-45, an act to amend the Criminal Code (judicial review of parole ineligibility) and another act-Chapter 34;
Bill C-63, an act to amend the Canada Elections Act, the Parliament of Canada Act and the Referendum Act-Chapter 35;
Bill C-26, an act respecting the Oceans of Canada-Chapter 31;
Bill C-35, an act to amend the Canada Labour Code (minimum wage)-Chapter 32;
Bill C-61, an act to implement the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement-Chapter 33;
Bill C-347, an act to change the names of certain electoral districts-Chapter 36.
It being 6.45 p.m., the House stands adjourned until Monday, February 3, 1997 at 11 a.m., pursuant to the standing orders.
