The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C–71, An Act to regulate the manufacture, sale, labelling and promotion of tobacco products, to make consequential amendments to another Act and to repeal certain Acts, as reported by the Standing Committee on Health with amendments.

Mr. Maloney (Erie), from the Standing Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs, presented the 8th Report of the Committee (Consideration of the Draft Regulations on Firearms tabled in the House of Commons by the Minister of Justice on Wednesday, November 27, 1996). — Sessional Paper No. 8510-352-79.
Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the government was requested by the Committee to table a comprehensive response.
A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings and Evidence (Issue No. 8, which includes this Report) was tabled.
Introduction of Private Members’ Bills
Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Frazer (Saanich–Gulf Islands), seconded by Mr. McClelland (Edmonton Southwest), Bill C–376, An Act to provide defined contribution pensions for the Public Service, the Canadian Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, to be managed and invested by a private sector manager, and to amend the Income Tax Act and certain other Acts in consequence thereof, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Order 36, petitions certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions were presented as follows:
