MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
Monday, November 3, 1997
The Standing Committee on Finance met in televised session at 12:49 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Dick Harris, Jim Jones, Karen Redman, Paul Szabo and Paddy Torsney.
Acting Members present: John McKay for Gary Pillitteri; Réjean Lefebvre for Yvan Loubier.
Other Member present: Peter Adams.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Richard Domingue, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators: Judy Stynest, Quebec Regional Representative. From the Association of Canadian Community Colleges: Gerald Brown, President & CEO. From the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada: Robert J. Giroux, President & CEO. From the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations: R. "Hoops" Harrison, National Director. From the Canadian Association of University Teachers: Robert Leger, Government Relations Officer. From the Canadian Federation of Students: Jennifer Story, National Deputy Chairperson. From the Canadian Graduate Council: Rubina Ramji, Chair.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, The Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultation Study. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Wednesday, October 15, 1997, Meeting No. 3).
Judy Stynest and Gerald Brown made statements, and with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 1:51 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
