First Reading of Senate Public Bills
Pursuant to Standing Order 69(2), on motion of Mr. Goodale (Minister of Natural Resources and Minister responsible for the Canadian Wheat Board) for Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Cauchon (Secretary of State (Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec)), Bill S-16, An Act to implement an agreement between Canada and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, an agreement between Canada and the Republic of Croatia and a convention between Canada and the Republic of Chile, for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income, was read the first time and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.
