GOVERNMENT ORDERS
The Order was read for the consideration of the amendments made by the Senate to Bill C-37, An Act to amend the Judges Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
Mr. Boudria (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) for Ms. McLellan (Minister of Justice), seconded by Mr. Vanclief (Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food), moved, -- That the amendments made by the Senate to Bill C-37, An Act to amend the Judges Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be now read a second time and concurred in.
Debate arose thereon.
The question was put on the motion and, pursuant to Standing Order 45, the recorded division was deferred until Monday, November 16, 1998, at the ordinary hour of daily adjournment.
The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mrs. Stewart (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Mr. Scott (Solicitor General of Canada), -- That Bill C-49, An Act providing for the ratification and the bringing into effect of the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development;
And of the amendment of Mr. Konrad (Prince Albert), seconded by Mr. Bailey (Souris -- Moose Mountain), -- That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the word ``That'' and substituting the following:

``Bill C-49, An Act providing for the ratification and the
bringing into effect of the Framework Agreement on First Nation
Land Management, be not now read a second time but that it be
read a second time this day six months hence.''

Ms. Beaumier (Brampton West -- Mississauga), seconded by Mr. Peric (Cambridge), moved, -- That the Bill, as amended, be concurred in at report stage.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.
Accordingly, the Bill, as amended, was concurred in at report stage.
Pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(11), the Order was read for the third reading of Bill C-208, An Act to amend the Access to Information Act.
