I have the honour to inform you that the Honourable Charles Gonthier, Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Canada, in his capacity as Deputy Governor General, will proceed to the Senate chamber today, the 10th day of December, 1998, at 9.00 p.m., for the purpose of giving royal assent to certain bills.

MESSAGE FROM THE SENATE
The Speaker: I have the honour to inform the House that messages have been received from the Senate informing this House that the Senate has passed certain bills without amendment.
A message was delivered by the Usher of the Black Rod as follows:
Mr. Speaker, the Honourable Deputy to the Governor General desires the immediate attendance of this honourable House in the chamber of the honourable the Senate.
Accordingly, the Speaker with the House went up to the Senate chamber.
And being returned:
The Speaker: I have the honour to inform the House that when the House went up to the Senate chamber the Deputy Governor General was pleased to give, in Her Majesty's name, the royal assent to the following bills:
Bill C-3, an act respecting DNA identification and to make consequential amendments to the Criminal Code and other acts—Chapter No. 37.
Bill S-21, an act respecting the corruption of foreign public officials and the implementation of the Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions, and to make related amendments to other acts—Chapter No. 34.
Bill C-25, an act to amend the National Defence Act and to make consequential amendments to other acts—Chapter No. 35.
Bill C-38, an act to amend the National Parks Act (creation of Tuktut Nogait National Park)—Chapter No. 39.
Bill C-42, an act to amend the Tobacco Act—Chapter No. 38.
Bill C-53, an act to increase the availability of financing for the establishment, expansion, modernization and improvement of small businesses—Chapter No. 36.
Bill C-60, an act for granting to Her Majesty certain sums of money for the public service of Canada for the financial year ending March 31, 1999—Chapter No. 40.
The Speaker: It being 9.20 p.m., the House stands adjourned until Monday, February 1, 1999, at 11.00 a.m., pursuant to Standing Orders 28(2) and 24(1).
