At 5:30 p.m., pursuant to Order made Monday, May 3, 1999, the House resumed consideration of the motion of Mrs. Wayne (Saint John), seconded by Mr. Matthews (Burin -- St. George's), -- That this House calls on the government to develop a new national shipbuilding policy to support the revitalization of the Canadian shipbuilding industry by maintaining and advancing the degree of excellence and the technologies for which Canada is historically renowned, given that Canada has the longest coastline of any nation in the world and that historically Canadians are among the finest shipbuilders in the world.
