The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mrs. Stewart (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development), seconded by Mr. Massé (President of the Treasury Board), -- That the amendments made by the Senate to Bill C-49, An Act providing for the ratification and the bringing into effect of the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management, be now read a second time and concurred in.

MOTIONS

Bu unanimous consent, it was ordered, -- That, immediately after Routine Proceedings, the House shall proceed to Private Members' Hour, during which time the Chair shall not receive dilatory motions or quorum calls; and

That when the House adjourns this day, it shall stand adjourned to Monday, September 20, 1999, provided that, for the purposes of sections (3) and (4) of Standing Order 28, it shall be deemed to stand adjourned pursuant to section (2) of the said Standing Order and provided that if, during the adjournment, any Standing Committee has a report ready for presentation to the House, the said report may be tabled with the Clerk of the House and shall thereupon be deemed to have been tabled in the House.

Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Peterson (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)) for Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Ms. Marleau (Minister responsible for the Francophonie), Bill C-88, An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act, a related Act, the Cultural Property Export and Import Act, the Customs Act, the Excise Act, the Income Tax Act and the Tax Court of Canada Act, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled "An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act, a related Act, the Cultural Property Export and Import Act, the Customs Act, the Excise Act, the Income Tax Act and the Tax Court of Canada Act".

Mr. Proctor (Palliser), seconded by Ms. Davies (Vancouver East), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, political parties should in their advertising or promotion refrain from using the name or the likeness of any individual without having first obtained the written consent of that individual. MOTIONS

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, -- That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (4)(b), and specifically, to the study of Part VII of the Official Languages Act, six members of the Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages, be authorized to travel to Moncton, New Brunswick; Summerside, P.E.I.; Saint-John, Newfoundland; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Gaspé, Quebec; Sudbury and Toronto, Ontario; Sherbrooke and Montreal, Quebec; Vancouer, B.C.; Edmonton, Alberta; Regina, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the fall of 1999, in order to hold public hearings, visit sites and meet with officials and that the necessary staff do accompany the Committee, provided that expenses do not exceed $117,700.
