The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-10, An Act to implement a convention between Canada and Sweden, a convention between Canada and the Republic of Lithuania, a convention between Canada and the Republic of Kazakhstan, a convention between Canada and the Republic of Iceland and a convention between Canada and the Kingdom of Denmark for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and to amend the Canada-Netherlands Income Tax Convention Act, 1986 and the Canada-United States Tax Convention Act, 1984, as reported by the Standing Committee on Finance without amendment.
Mr. Peterson (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)) for Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Pettigrew (Minister of Human Resources Development), moved, -- That the Bill be concurred in at report stage.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.
Accordingly, the Bill was concurred in at report stage.
Pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(11), Mr. Peterson (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)) for Mr. Martin (Minister of Finance), seconded by Mr. Pettigrew (Minister of Human Resources Development), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a third time and do pass.

Mr. Peterson (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)) for Mr. Manley (Minister of Industry), seconded by Mr. Rock (Minister of Health), moved Motion No. 1, -- That Bill C-5, in Clause 85, be amended by replacing lines 28 to 30 on page 49 with the following:

``(b) subject to subsection (8), appoint a director to fill
the vacancy.''

By unanimous consent, Mr. Peterson (Secretary of State (International Financial Institutions)) for Mr. Manley (Minister of Industry), seconded by Mr. Rock (Minister of Health), moved Motion No. 2, -- That Bill C-5, in Clause 302, be amended by replacing, in the French version, paragraphs 302(24)(a) and (b) with the following:

"a) soit cinq ans après ce jour;
-
b) soit à tout moment, mais au plus tard dix ans, après ce
jour, tel qu'il est mentionné dans les statuts de la
coopérative."

Mr. Boudria (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) for Mr. Manley (Minister of Industry), seconded by Mr. Valeri (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance), moved, -- That Bill C-5, An Act respecting cooperatives, as amended, be concurred in at report stage with further amendments.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.
Accordingly, the Bill, as amended, was concurred in at report stage with further amendments and ordered for a third reading at the next sitting of the House.
NOTICE OF MOTION
Mr. Boudria (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) gave notice of the intention to move a motion at the next sitting of the House, pursuant to Standing Order 78(3), for the purpose of allotting a specified number of days or hours for the consideration and disposal of the report stage and third reading stage of Bill C-2, An Act to establish the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and to amend the Canada Pension Plan and the Old Age Security Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
PRIVATE MEMBERS' BUSINESS

Ms. Lill (Dartmouth), seconded by Mr. Martin (Winnipeg Centre), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government should consider the advisability of increasing literacy in Canada by removing the Goods and Services Tax on all reading materials. (Private Members' Business M-93)
