Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mrs. Stewart (Minister of the Environment), seconded by Mr. Gagliano (Minister of Public Works and Government Services), Bill C-32, An Act respecting pollution prevention and the protection of the environment and human health in order to contribute to sustainable development, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation
(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))

His Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled "An Act respecting pollution prevention and the protection of the environment and human health in order to contribute to sustainable development".

Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Williams (St. Albert), seconded by Mr. Chatters (Athabasca), Bill C-373, An Act to provide for evaluations of statutory programs, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Brien (Témiscamingue), seconded by Mr. Bellehumeur (Berthier -- Montcalm), Bill C-374, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Customs Tariff (prohibited toys), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Loubier (Saint-Hyacinthe -- Bagot), seconded by Mr. Brien (Témiscamingue), Bill C-375, Balanced Budget Act, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Mr. Tremblay (Lac-Saint-Jean), seconded by Mr. Canuel (Matapédia -- Matane), moved, -- That this House censure any action by the federal government in the area of education, such as the introduction of the Millennium Scholarships program or national testing.
