MOTIONS

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, -- That, at the conclusion of today's debate on Bill C-211, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (arrest of those in breach of condition of parole or statutory or temporary release), all questions necessary to dispose of the said motion for second reading shall be deemed put and a recorded division deemed requested and deferred until Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders;

And that the recorded divisions scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 1998, on Motion M-198 be deferred from the expiry of the time provided for Private Members' Business to the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders.

At 11:06 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(7), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. White (Langley -- Abbotsford), seconded by Mr. Epp (Elk Island), -- That Bill C-211, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (arrest of those in breach of condition of parole or statutory or temporary release), be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

The debate continued.

At 11:45 a.m., pursuant to Standing Order 93, the Speaker interrupted the proceedings.

Pursuant to Order made earlier today, the question was deemed put and a recorded division was deemed requested and deferred until Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

At 11:45 a.m., by unanimous consent, the House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Eggleton (Minister of National Defence), seconded by Mr. Scott (Solicitor General of Canada), -- That Bill C-25, An Act to amend the National Defence Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs.

The debate continued.

The question was put on the motion and, pursuant to Standing Order 45, the recorded division was deferred until Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders.


The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights of Bill C-37, An Act to amend the Judges Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

Mr. MacAulay (Minister of Labour) for Ms. McLellan (Minister of Justice), seconded by Mr. Mitchell (Secretary of State (Parks)), moved, -- That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.
