By unanimous consent, it was ordered, -- That, notwithstanding any Standing Order or the usual practice, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts meet at 12:30 p.m. this day for the purpose of hearing evidence from the Auditor General of Canada; that if the Chair or Vice-Chairs of the Committee are not present, the Committee may choose any other Member to be Acting Chair of the meeting; and that the Committee be authorized to broadcast its proceedings.

Pursuant to Standing Order 39(7), the following question was made an Order for Return:

Q-54 -- Ms. Gagnon (Québec) -- With respect to each of the
programs for children (from infants to youth) delivered by
federal departments and agencies, can the government
indicate: (a),the year the program was introduced; and (b)
since 1989: (i) a complete breakdown of the funding
allocated for each fiscal year; (ii) the mechanisms
established to evaluate the program's effectiveness; (iii)
the follow-up and changes made to the program as a result of
these evaluations; (iv) the annual administrative costs for
the program's management; and (v) the mechanism(s) that the
federal government has established to ensure these different
programs are coordinated?

ROYAL ASSENT
A message was received from the Honourable Louise Arbour, Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Canada, in her capacity as Deputy Governor General, desiring the immediate attendance of the Commons in the Senate.

Mr. Pratt (Nepean -- Carleton), seconded by Mr. Proud (Hillsborough), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the government, in recognition of the tremendous contribution of the Canadian Forces to the protection of Canadian sovereignty, United Nations peacekeeping missions, the NATO alliance, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and search and rescue operations, should proclaim June 15 ``Canadian Forces Day''. (Private Members' Business M-134)
Debate arose thereon.
Mr. Proud (Hillsborough), seconded by Mr. Epp (Elk Island), moved the following amendment, -- That the motion be amended by deleting all the words after the words ``the Canadian Forces'' and substituting the following:

``both at home and abroad, in such areas as humanitarian
assistance, disaster relief, search and rescue and UN
peacekeeping, should proclaim the first Sunday in June as
``Canadian Forces Day''.''
