The Clerk informed the House of the unavoidable absence of the Speaker.

Whereupon, Mr. Kilger (Stormont--Dundas--Charlottenburgh) , Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees of the Whole, took the Chair, pursuant to subsection 43(1) of the Parliament of Canada.

Government Orders

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Boudria (Minister of State and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) , seconded by Mr. Gagliano (Minister of Public Works and Government Services) , — That Bill C-43, An Act to amend certain Acts and instruments and to repeal the Fisheries Prices Support Act, be now read a third time and do pass.

The debate continued.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.

Accordingly, the Bill was read the third time and passed.


The Order was read for the consideration of the amendment made by the Senate to Bill C-33, An Act respecting the water resources of Nunavut and the Nunavut Surface Rights Tribunal and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

Mr. Graham (Minister of Foreign Affairs) for Mr. Nault (Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development) , seconded by Mrs. Stewart (Minister of Human Resources Development) , moved, — That the amendment made by the Senate to Bill C-33, An Act respecting the water resources of Nunavut and the Nunavut Surface Rights Tribunal and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be now read a second time and concurred in.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and, pursuant to Standing Order 45, the recorded division was deferred until Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at the expiry of the time provided for Oral Questions.
