Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Mr. Charbonneau (Anjou -- Rivière-des-Prairies) presented the Report of the Canadian Section of the Canada-France Inter-Parliamentary Association concerning its participation at the 30th Annual Meeting of the Canada-France Interparliamentary Association, held in Paris, Marseille and Nice, France, from September 9 to 16, 2000. -- Sessional Paper No. 8565- 371-55-01.

Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Mr. Caccia (Davenport) presented the Report of the Canadian delegation of the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association respecting its participation at the preparatory meeting of the the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Debate, held in London, England, from January 16 to 20, 2001. -- Sessional Paper No. 8565-371-51-02.

Pursuant to Standing Order 34(1), Mr. Caccia (Davenport) presented the Report of the Canadian delegation of the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association respecting its participation at the first part of the 2001 session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, held in Strasbourg, France, from January 20 to 27, 2001. -- Sessional Paper No. 8565-371-51-03.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mr. Anderson (Minister of the Environment), seconded by Mr. Pettigrew (Minister for International Trade), -- That Bill C-5, An Act respecting the protection of wildlife species at risk in Canada, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.

The debate continued.

PRIVATE MEMBERS' BUSINESS

At 5:30 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

Mr. Godin (Acadie -- Bathurst), seconded by Mr. Robinson (Burnaby -- Douglas), moved, -- That, in the opinion of this House, the Goods and Services Tax and the Harmonized Sales Tax should be eliminated for employees in the trades who are required as a condition of their employment to provide the tools they need to do their job. (Private Members' Business M-248)

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Order 96(1), the Order was dropped from the Order Paper.
