Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Stoffer (Sackville—Musquodoboit Valley—Eastern Shore) , seconded by Mr. Comartin (Windsor—St. Clair) , Bill C-455, An Act to provide for a program giving financial assistance to high school students visiting overseas military memorial sites, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. St-Hilaire (Longueuil) , seconded by Ms. Picard (Drummond) , Bill C-456, An Act to amend the Excise Tax Act, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Mrs. Desjarlais (Churchill) , seconded by Mr. Martin (Winnipeg Centre) , — That, in the opinion of this House, the government should amend bankruptcy legislation to ensure that wages and pensions owed to employees are the first debts repaid when a bankruptcy occurs.
