The Standing Committee on Finance met at 2:39 p.m. this day, at the Hyatt Regency, Plaza B & C, Vancouver, British Columbia, the Chair, Massimo Pacetti, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rona Ambrose, Don H. Bell, Massimo Pacetti and Charlie Penson.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Bouchard for Guy Côté and Jean Crowder for Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal; Sheena Starky, Analyst. Standing Committee on Finance: Christine Lafrance, Clerk of the Committee.

 

Witnesses: Indian Taxation Advisory Board: Clarence (Manny) Jules, Chairman. Vancouver Port Authority: Lori Lindahl, Vice-President, Human Resources and Corporate Services; Jim Cox, Vice-President, Infrastructure Development. Poverty and Human Rights Centre: Margot E. Young, Advisor, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, University of British Columbia. Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia: Sarah Slack, Assistant Executive Director. Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its pre-budget consultations 2005.
 

Clarence (Manny) Jules, Lori Lindahl, Margot E. Young, Sarah Slack, John Nightingale and Alan Winter made statements and, with Jim Cox, answered questions.

 

At 4:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
