The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:20 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Bill Blaikie, Bonnie Brown, Hon. Brenda Chamberlain, Nicole Demers, Ruby Dhalla, Steven John Fletcher, James Lunney, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Michael John Savage and Hon. Robert Thibault.

 

Acting Members present: Gary Goodyear for James Lunney and Art Hanger for Colin Carrie.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As Individuals: Kristopher Knowles, Kristopher's Wish; George Marcello, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Step By Step / Kristopher's Wish. Immaculata High School: Thomas D'Amico, Principal.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 21, 2004, the Committee proceeded to a briefing session on organ transplants.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Steven Fletcher moved, -- That the Committee invite Mrs. Tina Lyon to testify, as an individual, on the issue of Hepatitis C and tainted blood, at the meeting scheduled for Thursday, December 9, 2004.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

 

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:18 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
