Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Alghabra (Mississauga—Erindale), seconded by Mr. MacAulay (Cardigan), Bill C-409, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (illness or injury), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Presenting Petitions

Pursuant to Standing Order 36, petitions certified correct by the Clerk of Petitions were presented as follows:

Business of Supply

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Mr. Crête (Montmagny—L'Islet—Kamouraska—Rivière-du-Loup), seconded by Mr. Laframboise (Argenteuil—Papineau—Mirabel), moved, — That the House denounce the laisser-faire attitude of the government that prevailed in its negotiations with Boeing, regret the fact that Quebec did not get its fair share of the economic spin-offs of this contract given the significance of its aeronautics industry, nearly 60%, and call on the government to provide fair regional distribution of economic spin-offs for all future contracts.

Debate arose thereon.

Motions

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, — That, at the conclusion of today's debate on the opposition motion in the name of the Member for Montmagny—L'Islet—Kamouraska—Rivière-du-Loup, all questions necessary to dispose of the motion be deemed put and a recorded division deemed requested and deferred until Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at the expiry of the time provided for Government Orders.

The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-252, An Act to amend the Divorce Act (access for spouse who is terminally ill or in critical condition), as reported by the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights with amendments.

Mr. Casson (Lethbridge), seconded by Mrs. Hinton (Kamloops—Thompson—Cariboo), moved, — That the Bill be concurred in at report stage.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Pursuant to Standing Order 98(2), Mr. Casson (Lethbridge), seconded by Mrs. Hinton (Kamloops—Thompson—Cariboo), moved, — That the Bill be now read a third time and do pass.

Debate arose thereon.
