Accordingly, the Bill was read the third time and passed.

Statement by the Speaker

In accordance with the recommendations contained in the 23rd Report of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, that was concurred in by the House on Monday, November 27, 2006, the Speaker received notification from the Member for Vancouver Island North requesting that the order for second reading of Bill C-295, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (replacement workers), be discharged and the Bill withdrawn.

Accordingly, the Order for second reading of Bill C-295 was discharged and the Bill was withdrawn.

As per the recommendation of the Committee, the Member has placed on notice another item of Private Members' Business, motion M-262, which will be placed in the Order of Precedence at the bottom of the list.

Government Orders

Mr. Nicholson (Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister for Democratic Reform), seconded by Mr. Allison (Niagara West—Glanbrook), moved, — That this House call on the government to introduce legislation to restore the traditional definition of marriage without affecting civil unions and while respecting existing same-sex marriages. (Government Business No. 12)

Private Members' Business

At 5:30 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights of Bill S-211, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (lottery schemes).
