The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Vice-Chair, Chris Warkentin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Bourgeois, Paul Calandra, Ron Cannan, Siobhan Coady, Jacques Gourde, Ed Holder, Pat Martin, Hon. Geoff Regan, Robert Vincent and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Yasmin Ratansi for Hon. John McKay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Public Service Commission of Canada: Gaston Arseneault, Senior General Counsel and Vice-President, Legal Affairs Branch; Maria Barrados, President; Donald Lemaire, Senior Vice-President, Policy Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 32(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Public Service Commission's assessment of the Public Service Employment Act, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
 

Maria Barrados made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:31 p.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the meetings of Tuesday, March 29, 2011, and Thursday, March 31, 2011, be devoted to discuss expenditures on advertising by the government and that it be left to the Chair and the Clerk to choose witnesses for these meetings based on witnesses suggested by the political parties.

 

At 12:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
