Introduction of Government Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Toews (Minister of Public Safety), seconded by Mr. O'Connor (Minister of State), Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Firearms Act, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Questions on the Order Paper

Mr. Lukiwski (Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons) presented the answer to question Q-115 on the Order Paper.

Business of Supply

The Order was read for the consideration of the Business of Supply.

Ms. Ashton (Churchill), seconded by Mr. Allen (Welland), moved, — That, in the opinion of the House, farmers have a democratic right to determine the future of their own supply management tools and marketing boards; and recognizing this right, the House calls on the government to set aside its legislation abolishing the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) single desk and to conduct a full and free vote by all current members of the CWB to determine their wishes, and calls on the government to agree to honour the outcome of that democratic process.
