The Chair called Clause 1.
Len Webber made a statement and answered questions.
At 9:10 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 9:12 a.m., the sitting resumed.
Frank Vermaeten made a statement and, with Len Webber, Sheila Barnard and Randy Hewlett, answered questions.
The Committee commenced its clause-by-clause study of the Bill.
On Clause 1,
Don Davies moved, — That Bill C-316, in Clause 1, be amended by replacing line 11 on page 1 with the following:“taining an organ and tissue donor registry in the province or territo-”
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Don Davies and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 8; NAYS: 0.
The Chair ruled that the following amendment was consequential to the previous amendment and therefore it was also adopted:
That Bill C-316 be amended by replacing the long title on page 1 with the following:“An Act to amend the Canada Revenue Agency Act (organ and tissue donors)”
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Ron McKinnon and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 8; NAYS: 0.
Clause 1, as amended, carried.
The Title, as amended, carried by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 0.
The Bill, as amended, carried by a show of hands: YEAS: 9; NAYS: 0.
ORDERED, — That the Chair report the Bill, as amended, to the House.
ORDERED, — That Bill C-316, as amended, be reprinted for the use of the House at report stage.
Don Davies moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee invite the Minister of Health to provide a briefing, at the earliest opportunity, on the forced sterilization of Indigenous women in Canada.
Debate arose thereon.
Doug Eyolfson moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:
