Minutes of Proceedings
It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Canadian Heritage as soon as possible to explain the government's response to the report Toward a New Action Plan for Official Languages and Building New Momentum for Immigration in Francophone Minority Communities, specifically in regards to immigration, and that this meeting be televised.
It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship as soon as possible to explain the government's response to the report Toward a New Action Plan for Official Languages and Building New Momentum for Immigration in Francophone Minority Communities, specifically in regards to immigration, and that this meeting be televised.
At 11:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 11:57 a.m., the sitting resumed.
The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
It was agreed, — That the draft report , as amended, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: The Enumeration of Rights-Holders Under Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms: Toward a Census that Supports the Charter.
ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.
It was agreed, — That the Analyst and the Clerk, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the Committee's website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.
It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.
It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 1:15 p.m. after the presentation of the Committee's report to the House.
It was agreed, — That, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, the Committee devote one (1) hour to the consideration of a summary of the evidence from the study on Air Canada’s implementation of the Official Languages Act, and that the Committee devote one (1) hour to hearing one (1) witness as part of its study of the full implementation of the Official Languages Act in the Canadian justice system.
It was agreed, — That, on Thursday, May 18, 2017, the Committee devote one (1) hour to the consideration of the draft outline of a report relative to its study on the full implementation of the Official Languages Act in the Canadian justice system, and that the Committee devote one (1) hour to hearing a witness as part of this study.
At 12:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
