Presenting Reports from Committees

Mr. Nault (Kenora), from the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, presented the 14th Report of the Committee, "Moving the Relationship Forward: NAFTA Modernization and North American Trilateral Cooperation". — Sessional Paper No. 8510-421-339.

Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee requested that the government table a comprehensive response.

A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meetings Nos. 56, 57, 59, 63 to 65, 76 and 82) was tabled.

The House resumed consideration of the motion of Ms. Petitpas Taylor (Minister of Health), seconded by Ms. Duncan (Minister of Science and Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities), — That Bill S-5, An Act to amend the Tobacco Act and the Non-smokers’ Health Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Health.

The debate continued.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.

Accordingly, Bill S-5, An Act to amend the Tobacco Act and the Non-smokers’ Health Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts, was read the second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Health.


The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill S-2, An Act to amend the Motor Vehicle Safety Act and to make a consequential amendment to another Act, as reported by the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities with amendments.

Ms. Gould (Minister of Democratic Institutions) for Mr. Garneau (Minister of Transport), seconded by Mr. Hussen (Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship), moved, — That the Bill, as amended, be concurred in at report stage.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Accordingly, the Bill, as amended, was concurred in at report stage.

Pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(11), Ms. Gould (Minister of Democratic Institutions) for Mr. Garneau (Minister of Transport), seconded by Mr. Hussen (Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship), moved, — That the Bill be now read a third time and do pass.
