The Order was read for consideration of a Ways and Means motion to introduce an Act to give effect to the Agreement on Cree Nation Governance between the Crees of Eeyou Istchee and the Government of Canada, to amend the Cree-Naskapi (of Quebec) Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts (Sessional Paper No. 8570-421-18), notice of which was laid upon the Table on Monday, February 12, 2018. (Ways and Means No. 18)

Pursuant to Standing Orders 83(4) and 69(1), on motion of Ms. McKenna (Minister of Environment and Climate Change) for Ms. Bennett (Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs), seconded by Ms. Qualtrough (Minister of Public Services and Procurement), Bill C-70, An Act to give effect to the Agreement on Cree Nation Governance between the Crees of Eeyou Istchee and the Government of Canada, to amend the Cree-Naskapi (of Quebec) Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts, was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

Recommendation

(Pursuant to Standing Order 79(2))

Her Excellency the Governor General recommends to the House of Commons the appropriation of public revenue under the circumstances, in the manner and for the purposes set out in a measure entitled “An Act to give effect to the Agreement on Cree Nation Governance between the Crees of Eeyou Istchee and the Government of Canada, to amend the Cree-Naskapi (of Quebec) Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts”.

Conformément aux articles 83(4) et 69(1) du Règlement, sur motion de M^me McKenna (ministre de l'Environnement et du Changement climatique), au nom de M^me Bennett (ministre des Relations Couronne-Autochtones et des Affaires du Nord), appuyée par M^me Qualtrough (ministre des Services publics et de l’Approvisionnement), le projet de loi C-70, Loi portant mise en vigueur de l'Entente sur la gouvernance de la nation crie entre les Cris d'Eeyou Istchee et le gouvernement du Canada, modifiant la Loi sur les Cris et les Naskapis du Québec et apportant des modifications connexes et corrélatives à d'autres lois, est déposé, lu une première fois, l'impression en est ordonnée et la deuxième lecture en est fixée à la prochaine séance de la Chambre.

Recommandation

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development of Bill C-69, An Act to enact the Impact Assessment Act and the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, to amend the Navigation Protection Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
